Earn crypto by viewing ads: the options and the catch

By the SurfFlux team · Updated 2026-10-30

Earning crypto by viewing ads works the same way as earning cash for it, with one practical difference: crypto handles very small payments better. A site can pay you 0.004 DOGE for an ad view and let you withdraw 0.009 DOGE, which would be impossible with a bank transfer.

Three ways to earn crypto for ads

Crypto PTC sites

You open one advertiser's page, keep it visible for a set time, then confirm. Each view pays a small amount of a coin, usually into a microwallet such as FaucetPay. This is the most direct version. See crypto PTC sites for how to judge them.

Surf extensions

Instead of opening ads yourself, you install a browser extension that opens advertiser pages in tabs and rotates them. You earn while the tabs run. The SurfFlux extension, which lets you earn DOGE while surfing, is one example: it is available in the Chrome and Edge stores, and you can run between one and five tabs. More tabs pay more in total, but not proportionally. Five tabs earn twice what one tab does, not five times.

Browser rewards

Some browsers pay their own token for viewing opt-in ads while you browse normally. That is the most passive option, and also the one with the least control over how much you earn.

Earn crypto while browsing: what "browsing" really means

When a site says you can earn crypto while browsing, it rarely means your normal browsing. It usually means letting the site open pages in your browser, as a surf extension does. Your own tabs are not tracked or paid for. That is a good thing for privacy, and worth understanding before you install anything.

Bitcoin or something cheaper?

Many people search for ways to earn bitcoin by viewing ads. The problem is that bitcoin's network fees make tiny payouts awkward, so most ad-viewing sites pay in coins with cheap transfers, such as DOGE, LTC or TRX, often through FaucetPay, where you can swap between coins. SurfFlux pays in DOGE only.

What you can expect to earn

Small amounts. Treat it as a way to collect some crypto for experimenting, or as a balance you can spend on advertising your own site, not as income. On SurfFlux you can do the second directly: the same DOGE balance pays for your own traffic campaigns.

Before you start

  • Use a separate browser profile for surf extensions.
  • Check which permissions an extension asks for, and install it only from an official store.
  • Withdraw early to confirm the site pays.
